• Catherine Carey takes on a new role as Head of Consumer Strategy.
  • The new role will help clients navigate the changing insurance consumer landscape.

Leading insurance market insight business Consumer Intelligence has promoted Catherine Carey to the newly-created role of Head of Consumer Strategy to spearhead the development of its consumer research proposition.

She will focus on meeting evolving client needs resulting from the changing insurance and regulatory landscape in her role at the Bristol-based group, which works with the majority of the UK’s biggest insurers as well as brokers, aggregators, data agencies and other financial institutions.

Catherine joined Consumer Intelligence four years ago as a key member of its Marketing team and has held a series of roles, including PR & Communications Manager and Interim Marketing Director. She has become extremely well known within the industry as the host of Consumer Intelligence’s highly popular webinar series, that has helped to navigate insurers through Fair Value and GIPP.

Ian Hughes, Chief Executive of Consumer Intelligence says: “Catherine has made a major contribution already to the development of Consumer Intelligence and her endless curiosity and storytelling abilities makes for the perfect skill set to help our clients see the world through the eyes of the consumer.”

Catherine Carey adds: “I am excited to be starting a new role helping clients to understand the evolving insurance and regulatory landscape.

The development we are undertaking couldn’t come at a better time. In the wake of the FCA’s new pricing rules, and with the onset of the cost of living crisis and arrival of the new Consumer Duty, truly understanding consumer behaviour has never been more important. We’re seeing trends change more rapidly now than we have seen in over a decade and the impact is being felt across the general insurance industry.

I am honoured to be given the opportunity to drive the development of a solution that will meet the new and changing needs of our clients and deliver valuable and actionable insights effortlessly.”

Prior to joining Consumer Intelligence Catherine worked in communications across multiple industries for organisations including the NHS, FTSE100 foodservice company Compass Group and a number of not-for-profits. Since 2018, Catherine has acted as a Trustee for the national stroke charity Different Strokes in addition to her position at Consumer Intelligence.
