Alan Brown appointed Chief Operating Officer

Financial services insight specialist Consumer Intelligence has strengthened its senior management team as it builds for long-term expansion.

Alan Brown, former Operations Director at Ageas (Kwik Fit Insurance), has been appointed to the newly-created role of Chief Operating Officer underlining the commitment to growth.

His appointment to take charge of day-to-day operations frees Chief Executive Ian Hughes and Managing Director Martin Coates to focus on strategic development.

The Bristol-based company, which has achieved record growth in the last 12 months, operates in the UK, Europe, Asia and North America and clients include all major UK insurance companies and price comparison websites plus a growing number of banks and foreign exchange specialists.

In his new role Alan Brown will be responsible for overall achievement of the operating plan working with Marketing, Client Facing, Service Delivery, Viewsbank and HR departments reporting to him.

Ian Hughes will focus on building new business propositions including the new advisory business while Martin Coates will become Vice Chair and take responsibility for governance and long-term planning as well as the Consumer business.

Alan Brown, Chief Operating Officer said:

“Consumer Intelligence has great people and I look forward to helping them and the company to reach its capacity. There is a huge opportunity for Consumer Intelligence to grow and achieve its goals.”

Ian Hughes, Chief Executive of Consumer Intelligence said:

“I am thrilled by this appointment and the capacity it will give us to grow the business even more. We are expanding rapidly and Alan’s support will help us achieve our ambition to be a global partner helping our clients to see the world through the eyes of their customers.”

Alan Brown brings extensive experience of growing a business from his 21 years with Ageas (Kwik Fit Insurance) during five changes of ownership after joining as a Sales Manager in 1996 and ending his time with the company as Operations Director.

He first worked with Consumer Intelligence as a client and became a member of its Advisory Board in March 2015 as well as helping with mentoring senior management.

Consumer Intelligence recently celebrated its 13th birthday and has successfully transformed its services from being benchmarking based to providing its clients with compelling insights into their markets and consumer behaviour.

It owns polling and mystery shopping panel Viewsbank, with access to more than 130,000 shoppers and recently appointed former Deloitte Partner and Vice Chairman Louis Jordan as its first Chairman.
