And what does being a UX Designer involve?

I basically design products and services with the end user in mind. I talk to these users to identify what motivates or frustrates them and translate their needs into creative solutions that fulfil business objectives. I’m truly passionate about getting things right for the user and for the products I design to have a positive impact on their lives.

Can you tell us about some of the things you are working on at the moment?

Being the company’s first Experience Designer I have spent a lot of my time developing and promoting the user centric methodology behind our new advisory service.

Our process has three distinct phases; inception, insight and ideation. Inception is about asking the right questions at the start of the project, the who, why, where and how. This usually starts as a workshop with all the project stakeholders and subject matter experts present.

Together we identify the problem statement (statements, in some cases) and create a working hypothesis of how we can fix them. During the insight phase, we look to validate our earlier assumptions through research. Our research strategy is bespoke to each project and draws upon a range of qualitative and quantitative techniques.

Finally, the ideation phase is all about collaboration and experimentation. We conduct design studios to visualise solutions and work with the client to develop a plan to turn those concepts into a reality.

How would you describe your co-workers?

Everyone I have met has been extremely friendly and approachable. The company operates under a fairly flat structure and encourages its staff to challenge ideas and ask questions. This mind-set breaks down silos and boosts collaboration.

What's the best thing about working at Consumer Intelligence?

As my team is fairly new within the business we have adopted a start-up mentality which makes it a really exciting place to work. I’m given the freedom to help shape the services we offer and an opportunity to make a real difference. Also, the flexible working structure is great for work life balance.

How would you summarise Consumer Intelligence in 3 words?

Innovative, experimental and exciting!

Outside of work you can find me . . .

I have recently moved to Brighton so in my free time I can be found exploring the local bars and restaurants, or walking my dog on the beach.
